March Finals Group Stages... (updated)

Done something different this month with the groups. Based off seeding arrangements, I created the groups from that. Should make for some close games, Group B is the one too look out for!

March League Rules & General Set up...

How to register

• No different to before, you need to register by putting your details into the google spreadsheet we have had for the past few months. If your a newbie and you weren't in the other leagues, then you need to send me your email so I can give you access to view it and you need to enter your registration details in the March Rego tab.

League Setup 

• 24 teams will be competing in the Seria A league with 4 teams from Seria A. 4 Groups, 6 teams per group and you will play each opponent 4 times in the league. The top 4 teams will go thru into the knockout round. If you dont play your required games by the specified time line (check below) then you will forfeit the match and loose 3-0 using our newly introduced base rate game system. The base rate of games will be 18 for this month.
• As each of you register you will be placed into your corresponding group. After each successful registration, the player will go into the next group that is awaiting a player.
• After each game you are required to enter your scores into the zoho results spreadsheet (either one of you i dont care) so if the teams are a draw on points at the end of the group phase, then goal differences will be taken into account. The GM's will be keeping an eye on the results section to see the scores noted are the actual scores
• There will be a time limit of the group stages. There will be more detail to follow as the dates are not concrete
• Finals structure has been updated. There will now be a 2 tie knockout round. with home and away goals determining the player to progress. The playoff format is in google docs if you wish to see the layout under the tab March Knockout Phases.
• There are 4 league GMs who will create each of the leagues. They are myself, tonenugen, Moga and Salsicce. They will send you the details or invite in game (if on friends list) to join the league.  
• If a D/C occurs during a game and the score is 0-0 within the first 30 minutes then an full unranked replay will be played. Anything after that, then just a single half should be played to determine the result. Player discretion should be used in this instance of a replay. i.e. If a game gets d/c at the start of the 2nd half, then only 1 half should be played etc if its a close game. On the other hand, If your loosing 4-0 then dont bother. Either way, its up to the players to decide...

Team Selection

• There will be no live draw this month as Talaash is still MIA. I have though put up a complete list of all the teams from Seria A and 4 teams from Seria B in the game to choose from which is on google docs under the "March Team Listing - Seria A & B" tab at the bottom of the document. With the seeding in place this month, players will be required to jump into the sheet and choose their time during their allocated time space. Due to time constraints for the league, you need to choose these fairly quickly, if you miss out on selection, then I will choose one for you if not done in time.

Results Section

• nOObert set up the results spreadsheet into a Zoho from the last month and we will use this one also this month. This spreadsheet has built in macros/formulas etc that make filling out the results so much easier. We have created this so if there is a tie for 4th place, the person with the better goal difference will go thru. After each game or whenever appropriate you must enter in your scores for the group phase games for this to work. All players are responsible for entering their results, if you cant do it for whatever reason, then let somebody know in the WP thread who has access to the sheets to upload it. If you have a gmail or yahoo account then you dont need to sign up for this, you just enter your details. If you use hotmail etc then you will need to register for it. There are 4 documents for the 4 different groups and they have been added on the blog in the worthy links section. Whim nOObert to get access to Groups A,B & C if you dont have it already. Noobert will hopefully add all the new guys in the league this month to the sheets in time.

Forfeiting System and points allocation

• We must decide a base number of games which is going to be 14 games this month

• Everyone must play the base number of games

• If you do not play the base number of games, you will be in forfeit. Also, as a further penalty, I think it would be fair that the player be excluded from the following month's league, a red card so to speak.

• If you are in forfeit every result with a player already played with and and if the player has played the base number of games will be recorded as a 3-0 win for the player unless the margin of victory is more than 3 goals. So if you lose 1-0, you'll be awarded a 3-0 win, however if you win 7-0 you get to keep your score.

• If a player hasn't played the forfeited player, he is not entitled to the win

• In the event that players have already played the base number of games, then points come into effect – for instance: PL W L D GD PTS

n00bert 28 – 16 -12 – 0- +40 – 48
Sanchez 25 – 20 – 5 -0 – +50 -60

Mr Gosu 16 – 16 – 0 – 0 – +41 – 48

The rankings would be – Sanchez, Gosu, n00bert. Make sense?

So basically, if you've played the base number of games – the actual league table comes into effect.

• Players who do not play the base number of games are, as a matter of principal, excluded from the league table and will not qualify even if they have more points than a person who has played the base number of games. This is to prevent players from reaching the "safe zone" and then refusing to play any more games. This puts further impetus on players who have not played their base number of games to chase the players that already have.

So for instance – in a battle for fourth – (if the base number of games is 16)

Dardy – 14 – 14 -0 – 0 – +15 – 42
Sanchez – 16 – 14 – 2 – 0 – +15 – 42
Mr Gosu – 16 – 14 – 2 – 0 – +10 – 42

The only people in consideration in this scenario are Sanchez and Gosu as they have played the base number of games. And in this scenario, all 14 wins for Dardy will be reverted to losses against the players who Dardy has already played. Dardy would also be suspended from the following months league.

• A cut off date for group stages must be set and any grace periods to finish league games will be decided on a monthly basis by Sanchez.

Feb Finals breakdown...

This months finals has been nothing but full of controversy. It all started off well but some of the recent results and games have put a dint in what would have been a stellar month for the 2 star league. Forum mods have gone nuts in the wp thread from a few of the games and the Dr is still frothing at the month from his QTR final showdown against the Big Mak! We will leave this one alone.... Guys also not reading the rules for the dc issue played a part in some of the other games where a 2-0 lead was overturned into a 4-0 loss due a full replay. All I can say is read the rules, I have tried to cover every blade of grass in this competition, so if something happens, read up on it before you act! If you are not sure, post in wp thread and I am sure one of us will be able to assist!

As for the games, well it's been a month full of 2 star hacks battling it out for noob supremacy. The finals have been no different and some really good results and surprise packages this month. The remaining games are:

The regos for the month of March are now open boys. Same deal as per usual, log into Google documents and enter the rego details on the Mar Player List - Rego Open tab. March League Format... Poll Closed!

The poll is now closed and it looks like we will be having an all Italian affair this month is our first inaugural full league format. We have combined all of Seria A and 8 teams from Seria B to make the listing. Seeding will be determined to allow the players to choose their teams based on their skill, so Dr and Wayno you better get used to using some rubbish Seria B teams boys! hahaha

March League Poll...

March league poll is up on the right hand side. I have focused on just full league formats for this month so all you need to do is choose your favoured league. Based on the results from this and previous months, some form of seeding will be applied to give the weaker players the better teams. Depending on numbers of people who join, we might need to incorporate the better sides in the lower divisions which will be divided to the better players. Start voting and regos will be open shortly.

Feb League Finals Format...

Ok so with the group games finalised, the finals format has been completed. There are some real tough games coming up for all... Who will rule the roost this month with a bunch of hacks? My money is hard to go past Wayno and Dr who have torn it up, but you cant rule out the flying horses (Makaveli) who put in some stellar performances this month with a very good 2 star team. Too hard to try and pick 1 team as there have been alot of upsets in the finals also, so lets just see how this one goes. You can play these finals whenever you are ready....

Feb League Group Stages Completed...

Ok boys, so after a hard month with noob players we have cut the mustard and completed our group stages. This was a pretty eventful month which really displayed the boys talents controlling a bunch of slow, overweight and useless finishing 2 star teams. How the Dr and Wayno booted 200 goals between them is beyond me with these kind of players, but whoever has them in the finals I feel sorry for you!

We introduced our new forfeit system this month which was devised by Noobert and it seems to have worked out ok. The only real person to benefit from this was me actually and I had nothing to do with it. The draw against the forfeited player bumped up to a win and I nabbed top spot by 2 points over the mighty Flying Cavallos! The top 4 of each group were as follows:
