Pay attention as I wont be repeating myself on how this is all going to work. As previously mentioned we are setting up 4 leagues to run side by side with a total of 8 teams per league. Upon registration you will be placed into a qualifying group in either Group A, B, C or D. I'm still working on how we are going to allocate the teams to people. We will have no duplicated teams in this, so you will receive 1 team before you enter the league and you need to use that team. As I said, still working on it and open for suggestions as it's doing my head in!
The google document has been setup with a few new worksheets, a new registration one which you need to enter your details if you havent already. Then there is the Group stage tables as well as the knockout league tree for those who make the finals. Seeing we have 32 teams, it will be the TOP 4 from each league will go thru to the next round. It will be 2 games only against each team only. The league GM's will keep an eye on the results in the leagues and when everyone has finished playing their games the TOP 4 will be established with the points system. It will be 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw. The league table will be a good indication as to how people are going, so you can keep an eye on that as everyone is restricted to playing the same amount of games. Honestly to save yourself the hassle if you are on the same points as someone else at the end of all the games, just note down the scores of people who you have played against. It's too hard for the GM's to note every game that is played, so if this is the difference of making the finals or not, the player with the better goal difference will go thru...
After the Top 4 are determined, they will play off in the knockout round in this order:
- Group A Winner vs Group B Runner up
- Group C Winner vs Group D Runner up
- Group A Runner up vs Group B Winner
- Group D Winner vs Group C Runner up
- Group A 3rd Place vs Group B 4th Place
- Group B 3rd Place vs Group D 4th Place
- Group A 4th Place vs Group C 3rd Place
- Group D 3rd Place vs Group C 4th Place
They then will continue to proceed into the Quarters, Semi's, Final etc. To check out the structure in more detail, take a look at the document I set up for it. The finals are a 1 game knockout, no home and away rubbish. Whoever wins, goes thru!

How long does the league part go for?? i.e. Do we set a date that all the games must be player by? Maybe the league goes for 2 weeks and then the finals for another week. Don't forget we've got Xmas so i think it should be timed to end on the 23rd. I'll be around between xmas and NY but not sure how many people will?

Yeh i know where your coming from mate.. good point... i think the league games shouldnt take too long to complete.. but they all have to finished before the finals start so its a tuff one with xmas and stuff coming up.. hopefully for this month we can get it out nice and early!

How we are going to do the draw:
Talaash will hopefully be doing this on msn .. webcam stylez... hopefully he does it with his jocks on!
You print out the names of the players. And the names of the 32 teams in teh World Cup.
You fold or scrunch up each player name so they cant be recognised and place them into container 1. And do the same for the team names and palce them into another container. Then on Msn you can draw it live!
You first pick a name from the palyers container then one from the teams container, and they are matched up
So can we have Instant Replays of the drawing to make it more dramatic? :P
