Group Stage Cutoff - Tuesday 15th Dec

Just a reminder fellas that the group stage games need to be completed by Tuesday the 15th of December... If the games are not played then the active person in the league will have to notify the league GM about the attempts to play the games and the non active member will incur a 3-0 forfeit.

This could get messy, so please try to play all of your games before this happens. The last thing we want is a full on b1tch fight with handbags included as to who incurs the forfeit. Noobert is the only person i know of so far that cant play his games as he is out of the country for work, so all of the people in his group will get a 3-0 win.

November League Cutoff...

The league will be closed tonight at 12am. The top 4 looks like it is secured and with the special request of Dr who is going interstate tomorrow, it has been closed a day early. The top 4 are not permitted to play any more league games as it may shuffle the finals playing order. Others who still wish to play the league may do so as they will have no effect on the top 4 except Clownage who is around 5 or 6 wins away, so no games for you bloke aswell hehe :)

December Registratons Closed...

The registrations for the December League are now closed. Took too much time for the others to wake up to register so instead of 32 teams we are now using a 24 team competition. There are 4 groups with 6 teams per group. The confirmed list of 24 players for the December league are:

December League Rules & General Set Up

New League, New Rules, too many repeated questions so hopefully this post will be the point of reference from now on. If one more person asks me a question that has been covered 12 times in the WP thread I honestly am going to put a hole thru a wall...

How to register

• No different to before, you need to register by putting your details into the google spreadsheet we have had for the past 2 months. If your a newbie and you werent in the other leagues, then you need to send me your email so I can give you access to view it. 

League Setup 

• 32 teams will be in this World Cup structure. 4 Groups, 8 teams per group and you will play each opponent twice in the league. The top 4 teams will go thru into the knockout round. This is a total of 14 games per player which definitely should be achievable. If you dont play your required games by the specified time line (check below) then you will forfeit the match and loose 3-0.
• As each of you register you will be placed into your corresponding group. At the moment we have 18 players who are split up between Group A to Group D. After each successful registration, the player will go into the next group that is awaiting a player i.e. Player 18 will go to Group B, Player 19 Group C etc until the groups are full
  
• After each game you are required to enter your scores into the results spreadsheet (either one of you i dont care) so if the teams are a draw on points at the end of the group phase, then goal differences will be taken into account. The GM's will be keeping an eye on the results section to see the scores noted are the actual scores
• There will be a time limit of the group stages. I understand its December and it will be a bit hard, but we are hoping to have all the group games done by say december 16th - 18th and then finals will start. There will be more detail to follow as the dates are not concrete
• Finals structure are as follows:
• Round 16 FN 1 – GP A Wnr vs Group D 4th Plc
• Round 16 FN 2 – GP A 2nd Plc vs Group D 3rd Plc
• Round 16 FN 3 – GP D Wnr vs Group A 4th Plc
• Round 16 FN 4 – GP D 2nd Plc vs Group A 3rd Plc
• Round 16 FN 5 – GP B Wnr vs Group C 4th Plc
• Round 16 FN 6 – GP C Wnr vs Group B 4th Plc
• Round 16 FN 7 – GP B 2nd Plc vs Group C 3rd Plc
• Round 16 FN 8 – GP C 2nd Plc vs Group B 3rd Plc
  
• There are 4 league GMs who will create each of the leagues. They are myself, zomba, MND and nOObert. They will send you the details or invite in game (if on friends list) to join the league.
  

Team Selection

• Talaash has volunteered to do this and its the fairest way. He will conduct a live ballot (gota love that) on msn via webcam where there are 2 buckets, one with all the registered players and one with 32 International Teams ranging from 4 stars to 5. Name gets chosen first, then team and so on. Once you get your team you will be allocated that team for the league. We need the registration to be complete before this happens, so I urge you guys if you are keen "AND QUALIFY" (my 10 game rule in this month still applies) for the league then join up

Results Section

• nOObert has set up the results spreadsheet into a Zoho as we could not upload the spreadsheet into the google docs one. This spreadsheet has built in macros/formulas etc that make filling out the results so much easier. We have created this so if there is a tie for 4th place, the person with the better goal difference will go thru. After each game or whenever appropriate you must enter in your scores for the group phase games for this to work. If either one of you do not enter your scores and you are in this position, at the end of the month we will go by whoever is 4th on the league table in the menu. If you have a gmail or yahoo account then you dont need to sign up for this, you just enter your details. If you use hotmail etc then you will need to register for it. There are 4 documents for the 4 different groups and they have been added on the blog in the worthy links section

World Cup Group Stages and Finals...

Pay attention as I wont be repeating myself on how this is all going to work. As previously mentioned we are setting up 4 leagues to run side by side with a total of 8 teams per league. Upon registration you will be placed into a qualifying group in either Group A, B, C or D. I'm still working on how we are going to allocate the teams to people. We will have no duplicated teams in this, so you will receive 1 team before you enter the league and you need to use that team. As I said, still working on it and open for suggestions as it's doing my head in!

The google document has been setup with a few new worksheets, a new registration one which you need to enter your details if you havent already. Then there is the Group stage tables as well as the knockout league tree for those who make the finals. Seeing we have 32 teams, it will be the TOP 4 from each league will go thru to the next round. It will be 2 games only against each team only. The league GM's will keep an eye on the results in the leagues and when everyone has finished playing their games the TOP 4 will be established with the points system. It will be 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw. The league table will be a good indication as to how people are going, so you can keep an eye on that as everyone is restricted to playing the same amount of games. Honestly to save yourself the hassle if you are on the same points as someone else at the end of all the games, just note down the scores of people who you have played against. It's too hard for the GM's to note every game that is played, so if this is the difference of making the finals or not, the player with the better goal difference will go thru...

After the Top 4 are determined, they will play off in the knockout round in this order:

• Group A Winner vs Group B Runner up
• Group C Winner vs Group D Runner up
• Group A Runner up vs Group B Winner
• Group D Winner vs Group C Runner up
• Group A 3rd Place vs Group B 4th Place
• Group B 3rd Place vs Group D 4th Place
• Group A 4th Place vs Group C 3rd Place
• Group D 3rd Place vs Group C 4th Place

They then will continue to proceed into the Quarters, Semi's, Final etc. To check out the structure in more detail, take a look at the document I set up for it. The finals are a 1 game knockout, no home and away rubbish. Whoever wins, goes thru!

League GM's needed...

Guys I need 2 volunteers to be the league GM's of the 2 remaining leagues that we need to setup for the next month. At the moment we have 2 GM's, myself and Salsiccio who will each be responsible for the creation of our leagues. Once the draw group stages are finalised, we will create the leagues and give the details to those players in the qualifying group. We will have 4 leagues going at once, 8 teams in each which makes a total of 32 teams for this group stage and knockout cup. There has been some umming and ahhhhing over which theme we should use and we decided to go for a World Cup theme. More details about the league will be posted soon. For those who haven't signed up, I suggest you get cracking as I think there will be a bit of interest in this one. Registrations close in a few days and as it stands, we have 10 teams in. To register once again, fill out your details in the new worksheet in the google spreadsheet document I sent you all when you first signed up. If you need the link again, whim me or email me and I will resend it.

Feedback = GOOD!

It seems that quite a few boys felt the same way as others and have jumped on board with some form of league change and made some good suggestions via email (to the dislike of some, who need to get over it!). As it stands, it seems as though we will be trying to implement a series of 4 leagues with 8 teams in each league. Each of the teams will play each other twice and the top 2 teams will go into the next round which is a knockout round of 1 leg. These will be played thru an unranked game. As each of these knockout games happen, the players will need to report to either myself (and a few others, we will need 1 representative in each of the groups to administer the league as I cant do this by myself) and they will be uploaded into tree table of some sort. The winners will then need to organise the games amongst each other, for each final and so forth. The winner at the end of all the finals is the winner of the competition for the month.

We will most likely use a club team approach for this as we can try our best to even the playing field. We havent finalised this star format as yet, but hopefully we come up with something soon. We will keep you posted via the blog and via email and WP.
