January League Live Team Draw...

For those newbies or even oldies this is an event not to be missed. Tal aka Durrani the goal scoring machine put on a show for us last time via webcam which had us in stitches. He has big shoes to fill again this time and hopefully he hires some 18 year old bikini model with mad cans to assist him in the live draw.

Attached are the group phase players in each group for the January league. Have not done the live draw yet so the teams are not included but now is the time to work out your strategies against your opponents!!!

January League Rules & General Setup

How to register

• No different to before, you need to register by putting your details into the google spreadsheet we have had for the past 3 months. If your a newbie and you weren't in the other leagues, then you need to send me your email so I can give you access to view it. 

League Setup 

• 28 teams will be in this Champions League structure. 4 Groups, 7 teams per group and you will play each opponent 4 times in the league. The top 4 teams will go thru into the knockout round. If you dont play your required games by the specified time line (check below) then you will forfeit the match and loose 3-0.
• As each of you register you will be placed into your corresponding group. After each successful registration, the player will go into the next group that is awaiting a player.
• After each game you are required to enter your scores into the zoho results spreadsheet (either one of you i dont care) so if the teams are a draw on points at the end of the group phase, then goal differences will be taken into account. The GM's will be keeping an eye on the results section to see the scores noted are the actual scores
• There will be a time limit of the group stages. There will be more detail to follow as the dates are not concrete
• Finals structure are as follows:
• Round 16 FN 1 – GP A Wnr vs Group D 4th Plc
• Round 16 FN 2 – GP A 2nd Plc vs Group D 3rd Plc
• Round 16 FN 3 – GP D Wnr vs Group A 4th Plc
• Round 16 FN 4 – GP D 2nd Plc vs Group A 3rd Plc
• Round 16 FN 5 – GP B Wnr vs Group C 4th Plc
• Round 16 FN 6 – GP C Wnr vs Group B 4th Plc
• Round 16 FN 7 – GP B 2nd Plc vs Group C 3rd Plc
• Round 16 FN 8 – GP C 2nd Plc vs Group B 3rd Plc
  
• There are 4 league GMs who will create each of the leagues. They are myself, tonenugen, WiselyBooth and lil_dodo. They will send you the details or invite in game (if on friends list) to join the league.
• Knockout finals game format will be slightly changed. To remove the case of playing the same team in your group phase
• If a D/C occurs during a game and the score is 0-0 within the first 30 minutes then an full unranked replay will be played. This is only on the proviso that the game does not show a result. If a result shows due to a d/c and a side has a decent lead then its up to the players to decide to replay the remainder of the game in an unranked. i.e. Game gets d/c at the start of the 2nd half, then only 1 half should be played etc.
  

Team Selection

• Talaash has volunteered to do this and its the fairest way. He will conduct a live ballot (gota love that) on msn via webcam where there are 2 buckets, one with all the registered players and one with nominated 28 Champions League Teams ranging from 4 stars to 5 (approx). Name gets chosen first, then team and so on. Once you get your team you will be allocated that team for the league. We need the registration to be complete before this happens. (Only 2 left atm). For those who missed out on it last month, get onto it, was a classic show!!!

Results Section

• nOObert set up the results spreadsheet into a Zoho from the last month and we will use this one also this month. This spreadsheet has built in macros/formulas etc that make filling out the results so much easier. We have created this so if there is a tie for 4th place, the person with the better goal difference will go thru. After each game or whenever appropriate you must enter in your scores for the group phase games for this to work. If either one of you do not enter your scores and you are in this position, at the end of the month we will go by whoever is 4th on the league table in the menu. If you have a gmail or yahoo account then you dont need to sign up for this, you just enter your details. If you use hotmail etc then you will need to register for it. There are 4 documents for the 4 different groups and they have been added on the blog in the worthy links section
  

I will keep on updating this page and upload it to the worthy links section as an FAQ etc so you all know what is going on

December League Player of the Month...

The following criteria to receive the accolade was based on group stage performances and the 3 topics of interest were:

• Golden Boot (Most goals scored in the group phase)
• Golden Gloves (Least goals conceded in the group phase)
• Best Winning Percentage

There was only 1 stand out player this month who actually won all of these awards. He did though tie the Golden Gloves & Best winning percentage with Tonenugen but for the sake of the exercise the winner goes to the Clown himself Mr D.A aka not TheDr as everyone gets them mixed up! I tried to find your gameface photo mate to throw on top of Cannavaros, but you dont have one, so the bald head of Cannavaro will have to do!

Pretty impressive stats with 9 wins and 1 loss:

• Golden Boot stats: 32 Goals For
• Golden Gloves stats: 5 Goals Against
• Best Winning Percentage: 90%

Too bad you inherited the Dr syndrome and choked in the Round 16 knockout final mate... hahaha better luck next time! :-)

Joke of the week...

A woman goes into a tattoo parlour and tells the tattoo artist that she wants a tattoo of a turkey on her right thigh just below her bikini line.  She also wants him to put "Happy Thanksgiving" under the turkey.

So the guy does it and it comes out looking real good. The woman then instructs him to put a Santa Claus with "Merry Christmas" up on her left thigh. So the guy does it and it comes out looking good too.

As the woman is getting dressed to leave, the tattoo artist says "If you don't mind, could you tell me why you had me put such unusual tattoos on your thighs?" She says "I'm sick and tired of my husband complaining all the time that there's nothing good to eat between Thanksgiving and Christmas!"

Jan League Amendments...

A few amendments from the December league below:

• We will play 4 games against each other, rather than 2

Jan Rego's Open...

Rego open fellas... same as last time for the oldies, log into the google spreadsheet and copy your details over from the previous sheet into the new one.

New guys wanting to play, send me your email address and I will give you access to the new google sheets. Start off with 24 teams and take it from there. Will also request a new wp thread to be open with the new league details as we have punished the current one this month.. 71 pages in less than a month

Looking like it might be champs league format so far... few days left to vote so if you haven't, do so!

New League Format: Poll up

The poll is up for the new league format. There has been some debate about the team selections and what we should do but I think we should stick to these for now and produce more for the upcoming months (salsiccio's suggestion of Top 6 teams per league). This is the easiest to maintain for now and if a team is not available in the game, then we will choose other teams from the leagues to fill the position. Hopefully we can get 32 teams for this one.

Ok so a few guys haven't played that will determine the top 4 but they should be played tonight. The games we are waiting for are:

Fellas it seems as though the tables are not being updated very regularly? There are results which are posted in WP and not posted in the sheets as yet. Can you please update the scores accordingly as the tables look a bit out of whack, especially Group D!!!
